Group Registration Delivers a Win-Win to Emergency Services Departments and Training Providers

Networks built on Stonehouse Media’s online learning network (OLN) platform have advanced yet simple features that deliver return on investment to grow the audience and provide tools to make training managers’ work easier. Group Registration is one example of this successful approach. Training managers love it because they no longer have to show their personnel how to register and remind them to do it. The learning network’s sponsoring organization loves it because it grows the registered user base and brings vital training to entire departments all at once with minimal effort.

Stonehouse’s OLN core enables emergency services department, agency, or corporate training managers to request Group Registration of all their personnel by uploading a simple spreadsheet that is vetted by a designated person from the network’s sponsoring organization. The network provisionally adds these group registration users to the registered user database, then emails an invitation asking them to complete their registration by choosing a password and security question. After completing those two details, the new registered user has full access to the training on the network. The spreadsheet submission process can be customized to the way the sponsoring organization would like to administer the vetting. Some networks use a web form and others use email submission.

Network administrators can review the registration status of each individual added through Group Registration to see if they have already registered on their own, completed their registration through the Group Registration process, or if they have not yet completed registration. A simple one-click link resends the invitation email to people who have not yet registered.

Group Registration launched on the FM Fire Service Learning Network first. To date, it has added over 5,000 new registered users from 69 departments, from small towns like the ones in Liberty Township, Indiana to metro areas like Memphis, Tennessee and even islands overseas. Group Registration is also available on the Fire Hero Learning Network. We expect Group Registration to become available on the Responder Safety Learning Network in 2025.
